                 Graduated from University College London in 1991, completing pre-registration training in Surgery at Torbay Hospital, Torquay and medicine at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. Then worked for 12 months in the field of Accident and Emergency medicine as both Senior House Officer and at Clinical Assistant level. Extensive experience in dealing with a variety of soft tissue and bony injuries as well as participating in orthopaedic fracture clinics and soft tissue injury follow-up clinics.

 

 

                Further medical training included anaesthetics and intensive care medicine providing medical care in the Accident and Emergency department as well as in operating theatre and Intensive Care Unit settings. Experience gained included dealing with acute injury ranging from relatively minor soft tissue injury to major critical injury, working closely with the Orthopaedic departments at a variety of hospitals in the United Kingdom. Specialist experience in dealing with chronic pain was also gained at registrar level, with experience in investigating and treating chronic neck and back pain. Subsequent experience was also gained in the field of transfer of acutely injured and critically ill patients whilst working for a private air ambulance company, repatriating injured and medically ill patients to the United Kingdom.

 

 

                Worked in the field of Medico-Legal reporting since 1999, writing more than 6,000 reports dealing with a variety of soft tissue and bony injuries. These have dealt with personal injuries arising from accidents including road traffic accidents, work place accidents and injuries sustained in private and public settings, with particular emphasis on  soft tissue injury to the neck and back as well as more common bony injuries. Instructions have been received from Insurance companies, plaintiff and defendant representatives as well as joint nominations under the Woolf protocols. Instructions are approximately 50% plaintiff, 20% defendant and 30% joint. Reporting usually includes review of full medical records including Accident and Emergency, General Practice, physiotherapy, X-rays and associated reports regarding other radiological investigations, as well as records and reports supplied by other agencies.

 

 

                Other aspects of medico-legal work that have been undertaken include the preparing and answering of questions relating to reports that have been prepared by other parties as well as undertaking peer review of reports prepared by other expert witnesses. This has also included the preparation of joint statements to the court.

               

 

                Instructions have also been undertaken with regard to providing reports for the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. These have been in connection with the assessment of physical injuries in the context of Asylum and Human Rights Cases.

                       

        

                Outside interests include motor sport with the provision of medical cover at motor sport events including the Circuit Revival Meeting at Goodwood and the British Touring Cars at Brands Hatch. Attended an Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS) course at Silverstone in 1999 arranged by the RAC. Involvement has also included the provision of real-life data for crash-testing investigation at Thatcham.
